Read the PMI Community Post, 9 November 2007:
Brian Grafsgaard, PMP, PgMP — director of professional services for Quality Business Solutions in Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA — was among the first to earn the new credential. He confirms its value.
“The PgMP credential demonstrates a commitment to professional growth,” Mr. Grafsgaard said. “Many project managers naturally aspire to become program managers. The program manager role typically carries more responsibility and is more aligned with the strategy and mission of the organization. It really puts you at the forefront of where the organization is headed.”
He continued, “The new credential recognizes that program management is a separate and distinct discipline and typically a more elevated position … I strongly encourage those who are qualified to pursue it.”

Several websites or blogs are advocating work from home to save on fuel and high gas prices. They're not wrong about that.
Likewise, if fewer people were on the roads during peak times ... car accidents would decrease and work performance might actually improve -- to say nothing of quality of life. [Our recent bridge collapse in Minneapolis was during rush-hour.]
There have been infrequent times when I have worked from home. The key is to have a dedicated space and all of the right equipment to make it just like a work space in an office.
You have to be dress and ready to make the commute in a flash, if you are needed on-site or by a client.

I would like to see a Green Initiative from collaborative professionals - PMPs and PgMPs that would take on early or late commute ideals at the very least, by having video conferencing for project team meetings.
This would allow for more work, less commute hassle, better meeting preparation, and decreased use of vehicles, if not airlines.
Recently, I reviewed several technology options for video conferencing from Citrix, WebEx, etc. I will have several posts to share those reviews.
If the government can do these things to decrease usage of fuel and create better work lifestyles, why not private industry, too? TechDirt Article

Have you heard that question during your job search?
How do you handle it?
What does it mean?
Since ancient times people have taken on "projects" to accomplish desired work or improvements for their country, their business or their living space. In most of those circumstances, the "project manager" was the person given the responsibility for the project's activities and its ultimate conclusion.
Yet, in our current day, the term project management has been generalized almost to the point tht it has become ineffectual. What are the reasons for this:
Lack of clarity around the desired goals ...
Poorly defined objectives ...
Indecisive leadership ...
How loudly can we speak of these concerns?
How can we address them?
Can we afford to move forward without some measure of resolution?
